每天生活充斥著不同正面、負面的的事情，正面的事情帶給大家喜樂，沒有人喜歡負面的事情。但畢竟是發(fā)生了，怎樣以英語描述負面的事情，令讀者比較容易理解？

　　這是一種寫作技巧，以委婉語（Euphemism）撰寫日常生活負面的事情會令讀者容易接受。委婉語要用得恰當(dāng)、出色，就是要經(jīng)常練習(xí)。要明白，負面的事情就是負面，事實不能改變；但我們可以用文字令讀者比較容易接受。

　　大家先試試把以下句子改寫？

1.Martin is a Mr-know-it-all, he has been with the marketing team for many years, he knows what he's doing for sure.

2.I cannot come to the class because I have something else to do on that day.

3.By the time you finish your project, we will be dead.

4.My mother has nothing to do after retirement, she only travels around the world and does things for fun.　　

參考改寫：

1.Martin is a well-seasoned marketer in the team; he knows his stuff.

　　"Mr-know-it-all"意思有點貶意，就是形容裝作什么也懂的人。"well-seasoned" 是真正的贊美，形容對方在某個崗位／行業(yè)非常有經(jīng)驗，可以處理任何情況。

2.I would come to the class if I did not have something else scheduled on that day.

　　英語文法中的條件句（Conditional Sentences）能表達假設(shè)的情況、結(jié)果及后果，用作委婉語有時候會很恰當(dāng)。這句只是說，如果我沒有約會，便會來上課。跟原文一樣，也是不來上課，但表達方式比較容易接受。

3.By the time you finish your project, we will be in a better place.

　　原文意為在等你完成項目后便死去，意思應(yīng)該就是說項目要用相當(dāng)長的時間才能完成，我們已經(jīng)去到一個更加好的情況／地方或是境界（in a better place）。

4.My mother's golden years are filled with adventure and laughter.

　　原文純粹描述媽媽在退休后無所事事，只是旅游玩樂，好像沒有什么意義的。Golden years作為plural noun，字眼相對比較正面，這個黃金年華就是說退休后的光榮生活。

　　要練習(xí)委婉語，只需把平時日常的新聞、或是每天自己的生活點滴記錄，嘗試以委婉語表達出來，也許心情也會好一點。
